Great product, but check the prices direct from the publisher!

We have used Math-U-See products for five years now, all the way through Algebra I. This "Primer" is a great product, especially when combined with Miquon Math or other fun math activities. I think the other reviews are giving the price one star, not the product. Check the publisher's website to compare prices before you buy here.

Great basic program for advanced Pre-K or K - your child may start partway through the book depending on ability

This is an excellent introduction workbook for kindergarten or advanced pre-school level children. My daughter (4.5) started at approximately halfway through the book after a rigorous pre-K program - definitely check the skill level of your child. The objective of this course is to give the student a fun introduction, it is not mastery based. I highly recommend the manipulative blocks that go with this - the worksheets are all designed to be used in conjunction with those manipulative and I think the workbook only would lose a lot of its benefit. Overall we are extremely pleased with this Math program and we intend to continue on to the Alpha book.

Seriously check them out for honesty. you can get these books for about 35 or so from the math u see web site.

Since ours is an age of heightened public interest in auditing the actual realisation of such standards and commitment, the first major focus of this book is a critical account of international standards aimed at protection of minorities. To that end, it concentrates on four key dimensions. First, it addresses the issue on identification of minorities as understood by international law. Second, it outlines a brief history on development of international law towards a better protection of minorities. Third, it gives an overview of international instruments and mechanisms on minorities. Finally, it analyses the rights of minorities under international standards. All these dimensions point to the fact that international minority rights lag behind the development of other branches of rights. The second major focus of this book is to relate international standards on minority protection to South Asian regimes. Concentrating on India, Pakistan, Bangladesh, Nepal, Sri Lanka, Bhutan, Maldives, and Afghanistan, an endeavor is made to examine the state of minorities and their protection under the domestic regimes. It emerges that the normative commitments of these states are less or more compatible with international standards. Nevertheless, majority-minority syndrome persistently remains as one of the causes behind multidimensional deprivation and victimization of South Asian minorities. The present book also assesses the extent to which regional cooperation in South Asia has so far contributed to extending protection to minorities. This ends with an argument that SAARC (South Asian Association for Regional Cooperation) has potentials to play far greater role in this regard.

Borhan Uddin Khan is currently a Professor in the Department of Law, University of Dhaka, and a former Dean, Faculty of Law, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. After obtaining LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.M. from the same University, Prof. Khan in 1990 did LL.M. in Public International Law from the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE), and Ph.D. in 1995 from the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London. His areas of expertise include: International Human Rights Law, International Humanitarian Law, Laws of Armed Conflict and Use of Force. He has to his credit, several books and research papers published in reputed Journals. Muhammad Mahbubur Rahman is an Assistant Professor, Department of Law, University of Dhaka, Bangladesh. He is currently enrolled, under the British Commonwealth Scholarship and Fellowship Plan, as a post-graduate research student in the School of Oriental and African Studies (SOAS), University of London, United Kingdom. First chapter of the book explains the Data Guard architecture; what is Standby Database? What`s physical / Logical / Snapshot standby database? Role Transition, Redo apply and SQL Apply? Switchover and fail over? Understand the concepts and the component definitions are a good start to successfully implement an Oracle Data Guard environment.

Chapter 2 shows complete steps to implement a physical standby database. This chapter states and explains most of the options available to implement verify and monitor a successful physical standby database. It provides very deeply explanation of Data Guard initialization parameters.

Chapter 3 starts mentioning pre-requisites before a logical standby database implementation. This chapter states and explains most of the options available to configure verify and monitor a successful logical standby database.

Chapter 4 introduces the Data Guard Borker, it clearly shows its components, benefits and the DGMGRL tool. This chapter shows also Data Guard Borker setup and how it is used to change dataguard configuration and database proprieties. The chapter has a very good section about troubleshooting Data Guard Borker, Tracing and most common broker issues. Authors also explain about the Fast Start Fail over (FSFO) and the Observer.

Chapter 5 is about protection modes, good chapter to understand differences between Data Guard modes. This chapter also has some examples to change protection mode using SQL*Plus, the Broker and Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.

Chapter 6 is about Role transitions (Switch Over and Fai Over). Authors have explained different examples using SQL*Plus, Data Guard Broker and Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.

Chapter 7 is about Active Data Guard, Snapshot Standby databases, Cascade standby. The chapter shows how to enable Active Data Guard option using SQL*Plus and Broker. They show ;
- Techniques to monitor the Active Data Guard environment.
- Integration of Active Data Guard with EBS, SAP and other applications.
- The steps to convert to a snapshot standby database and cascade standby.
- How to implement the advanced compression option and a cross platform Data Guard.

Chapter 8 shows examples to the integration of the Data Guard configuration with;
- Oracle Enterprise Manager 12c.
- RMAN
- RAC

Chapter 9 is about Data Guard patching with many examples about patch application, Logical and physical standby databases. This is also a very good chapter.

Chapter 10 and 11 are unique, they cover handling the most common issues in a Data Guard environment and Data Guard best practices using TAF, FCF, FAN and other recommended configurations.

3- Conclusion:

In my opinion, this book is not only for beginners but also covers many useful and gives many recommendations for more experienced Oracle DBA. "Oracle DataGuard 11gR2 Administration" is a very useful book for DBA and also provides a good start for the novices to practice latest Oracle Dataguard with examples provided. Along with the theories, it also covers the creation and configuration aspects of dataguard which will help the beginners to practice within home itself. By reading the book, you will able to understand the Dataguard architecture, Redo transport mechanisms,apply services and the implementation methodology. This is very useful book who eager to know about all aspects of Dataguard.
