Bone Up on Your Grammar

I bought this after reading Stephen King's book on writing, in which he said this is the book he used in public school. I'm glad it's in my library. Its useful, well indexed and handy to have if you have any questions about grammar, spelling, syntax, etc.
A must for anyone who cares about languages. Thanks, Stephen.

50 years old and still invaluable

I am still using my copy (1951/1957 edition), and I have long recommend it to other teachers who want something to beef up their courseware. Exercises are straighforward and progressive and right in the book itself. The series are progressive, year to next year. The red and black text in my edition was unusual in ca. 1950-60, but the contrasting colors have always helped point me quickly to what I'm looking for. In my experience, unsurpassed were the index and treatment of diagramming. Having worked through the book in a senior composition and grammar class taught by a Latin teacher, I was fully equipped for the next step--composition classes at the University of Michigan, and graduate courses in Greek, Hebrew, French, German, and others later.

The Best English Grammar and Composition Book Ever

This is the only english grammar and composition book you'll ever need. Every student should have this in their library as the "go to book", because some of the newer books being used today do not cover the rules of grammar and composition well or they re-invent the standards and rules altogether. I have seen this book on the shelves of many educators(both high school and college)as well, so that definitely speaks to the quality of this book. I was pleased that this older book was available for purchase. I bought one for each of my children to use in high school and to take with them to college and beyond...I highly recommend this book!
