Great story about health care and Maldivian culture and people!

This excellent volume documents the development of primary health care services in the Maldives, an archipelago of 192 inhabited islands in the Indian Ocean. One can imagine the unique challenges of providing health care services to the remote atolls of this island nation. This task was approached through the recruitment of primary health care workers from many of the islands, who were trained in Male--the nation's capital-- and then returned as care providers to their home atolls.
This story is told from the perspective of one particular health care worker, an engaging young man who chronicles the challenges and the personal lives of the people in his serivce area. This book clearly describes a model of service delivery that is relevant and pertinent to health care professionals today.
This book would also be of interest to visitors to the Maldives as well, as a wonderful introduction to the people, lifestyle, culture and even language of the of the Maldivian people. Well-illustrated with typical Maldivian scenes.
