About the Author
Steven J. Heine is Professor of Social and Cultural Psychology and Distinguished University Scholar at the University of British Columbia. His research focuses on meaning, genetic essentialism, and cultural influences on motivations. He has published over seventy articles in such periodicals as Science, Nature, Behavioral and Brain Sciences, and Psychological Review. He received the Distinguished Scientist Early Career Award for Social Psychology from the American Psychological Association in 2003 and the Career Trajectory Award from the Society of Experimental Social Psychology in 2011. He lives with his family in Vancouver.

Great insight!

This is a ground-breaking book. It allows some of the most basic axioms about universality of human behaviors to be challenged in an erudite manner. It should be a mandatory read in a diverse society.

Good but could be better.

I purchased this book for school however I expected a bit more from a text book. It is not overly easy to use as the index is not comprehensive. The references index however I did find useful. Inside the text is a fairly easy read but not overly engaging.

Very boring book. Author rambles on for a long time

Very boring book. Author rambles on for a long time, doesn't know how to get to the point. If he did, the book would only be half as big... Seriously frustrated reading this book right now because its so boring and it drags on
