A brilliant insight to human history

While Prof. Harari may not teach new facts, his insight into their relationships as regards the development of Homo sapiens' relations with other human forms and within the societies of our species over centuries is often startling. As one example, his analysis of the spread and consequences of empires weighs not only the suffering that empires often imposed upon conquered nations, but also the lasting cultural effects. Depending on the percentage of conquered societies in the empire, either suppression or tolerance could be the prevailing rule. One specific lasting consequence of empire has often been language, most often English, thus enabling easy communication among diverse, not to say warring, groups . Speaking of which, the English edition is supposed to come out in 2014.

Eine Aufarbeitung der Geschichte der Menschheit, wie ich es noch nie erfahren habe. Jedem, der sich nur im geringsten f�r unsere Spezies aber auch und vor allem f�r das was wir Leben nennen, interessiert, sollte dieses Buch lesen. Es hat mich betroffen gemacht aber auch lachen lassen.

A brilliant history of ourself - and funny, too! Even if most of the facts are not really new to me it gives a new perspective on our culture and society. Very clever compilated to keep the reader motivated.
